Turn Over a New Leaf

Personal2 min read

Another year has passed, with all happening in 2020 it's sure full of surprises.

But with all of the uncertainty, it was still a good year. I was fortunate in many ways.

With Working from Home policy that my company adopt in response battling with the Covid pandemic, it does reduce almost 4 hours my commute time back and forth.

Of course, I spent more with my partner during this new free time that I have. I also have time to do exercise and help with house chores. Sound cliche maybe, since my profession as Software Developer, who claimed have the most flexible time compare others.

I've worked with start-ups, medium, and big companies before, but all those companies required me to be on-site in their office. So, my new work from home experience is new to me. Frankly, I like it.

The other things that I'm fortunate during 2020 are joining with indiehackers community.

It's tempting to start doing my own business and take my freedom from my 9-5 job.

Should I quit my job and start my own business?

Don't get me wrong I still have my 9-5 job.

The urge to do my own business is getting bigger during last year. I found the reason behind this might look silly, which is I'm afraid when my company instruct us to go to the office again.

I've been found joy in work at home or anywhere as long as there is the internet. I love to spend more time with my partner.

There is an option to finding a company who allow their employee to work remotely. But, the idea of being an employee is not giving me joy at all.

I want to take my freedom!

What next?

Enough with the reminiscence of last year, the question is always what next?

This year, I want to start my own business.

After learning from a lot of great indie hackers and entrepreneur. I decided to start with:

  • Open business as Java freelancer.
  • Start selling a digital product.
  • Creating Me Inc.

What first?

Last year, I subscribed to Monica Lent's newsletter to get better with blogging and buy the course from thefreelancehustle.

All is to get me better on doing freelancing business and attract the audience.

I have revamped my website. There are still many things that need to be done, to be honest. But, my website is ready.

I will start to consistency post on this blog.

I will start to find my ideal client.

I will start to build something that helps to solve the people problem.

My goals are to become an entrepreneur at the end of this year.
